DESCRIPTION:Biomaker Challenge is a four-month programme challenging inter
disciplinary teams to build low-cost sensors and instruments for biology.
From colorimeters to microfluidics and beyond\, we’re looking for frugal
\, open source and DIY approaches to biological experiments. We're interes
ted to hear from biologists looking to improve their research and pick up
some electronics knowledge\; engineers and computer scientists looking to
apply their skills and gain experience of practical biology or anyone who
is just curious and interested to participate. Up to 50 teams will receive
up to £1000 support\, including a Biomaker Toolkit and will exhibit thei
r device at a Biomaker Fayre on 21 October 2017. This short talk from Dr J
enny Molloy will introduce the Challenge and present example prototypes fo
r inspiration. One audience member will win a free Arduino microcontroller
to get started early. Applications are due buy 23 June 2017 and you can f
 ind more information at http://www.synbio.cam.ac.uk/biomakerchallenge.\nOr
