DESCRIPTION:Recent trends in personality science have revitalized the stud
y of personality dynamics. This development inherently reawakens interest
in a set of challenges that were defining of the 20th-century’s “gran
d theories” of personality: (1) modeling the architecture of personalit
y systems\, (2) assessing elements of that system with sensitivity to the
idiosyncrasies of individuals and their distinctive life contexts\, (3) id
entifying and explaining cross-situational coherence in personality functi
oning\, and (4) applying the tools of personality science to benefit thera
peutic change. This talk will explain how these challenges are addressed
by the Knowledge and Appraisal model of Personality Architecture (KAPA mod
el)\, which capitalizes on prior social-cognitive approaches to personalit
y and appraisal theories of emotion.\n\n
