DESCRIPTION:Turbulent two-phase flows are often found in industry and natu
re. Examples\ninclude particle-laden plumes and jets of volcanic eruptions
\, bubble\nfountains observed when filling a liquid reservoir\, and the tr
ansport of\ncontaminants through buildings.\nThe objective of this study i
s to investigate the transport of bubbles and\nparticles in multiphase fou
ntains (flows where the buoyancy flux at the\nsource is in a direction tha
t opposes the momentum flux) with a particular\nfocus on the maximum heigh
t/depth reached by such flows. The investigation\nincludes experimental s
tudies and simple models of multiphase fountains in\nconfined and unconfin
 ed spaces.\n
