DESCRIPTION:Electrons in bilayer graphene possess an unusual property: the
y are chiral quasiparticles characterized by Berry phase 2p. I will review
the tight-binding model of bilayer graphene which determines the band str
ucture and low-energy quasiparticle properties of this material. Its high-
magnetic-field Landau level spectrum consists of almost equidistant groups
of four-fold degenerate states at finite energy and eight zero-energy sta
tes. This can be translated into the Hall conductivity dependence on carri
er density which exhibits plateaus at integer values of 4e2/h and has a
“double” 8e2/h step between the hole and electron gases across zero de
 nsity.\n
