DESCRIPTION:Many fundamental phenomena in eukaryotic cells -- nuclear migr
ation\, spindle positioning\, chromosome segregation -- involve the intera
ction of often transitory structures with boundaries and fluids. I will di
scuss the interaction of theory and simulation with experimental measureme
nts of active processes within the cell. This includes understanding the f
orce transduction mechanisms underlying nuclear migration\, spindle positi
oning and oscillations\, as well as how active displacement domains of chr
omatin might be forming in the interphase nucleus.<br>
