DESCRIPTION:A surprising connection between the weak gravity conjecture an
d the weak cosmic censorship has recently been proposed. In particular\, i
t was argued that a promising class of counterexamples to cosmic censorshi
p in four-dimensional Einstein-Maxwell-Λ theory would be removed if charg
ed particles (with sufficient charge) were present. We test this idea and
find that indeed if the weak gravity conjecture is true\, one cannot viola
te the weak cosmic censorship this way. Remarkably\, the minimum value of
charge required to preserve the weak cosmic censorship appears to agree pr
ecisely with that proposed by the weak gravity conjecture.
