DESCRIPTION:Reliable transmission in the internet is easy: the receiver si
 mply requests retransmission of lost packets. What about networks where re
 ceivers can't tell us which packets got lost/corrupted? This talk will exp
 lore a class of error correcting codes that provide a surprisingly effecti
 ve solution to this problem.\n\nStarting from a naive repetition based cod
 e we will analyse why it fails and use this insight to build successively 
 better codes before reaching something with real world usability.
