ackground? - David Seery (DAMTP\, University of Cambridge)

DESCRIPTION:A recent analysis of the WMAP3 data has suggested that the tem
perature anisotropies imprinted at the last scattering surface could be as
large as 1 part in 1000\, almost 100 times larger than the predicted sign
al from single-field\, slow-roll inflation. I will survey some models whic
h lead to larger non-gaussianities and outline those areas where our knowl
 edge remains incomplete.
