DESCRIPTION:Stainless-steels are amongst the most useful engineering mater
ials used today. In order to predict their behaviour in real life dynamic
events experimental investigations must be conducted in simplified situati
ons over a large range of strain-rates. The work presented is of a series
of such experiments which were undertaken to determine the compressive and
spall strength properties of one particular austenitic stainless steel fr
 om quasi-static to high strain-rates.
