DESCRIPTION:This talk introduces the notion of empirical measurements of d
 esigning and contrasts it with design theory. It describes three categorie
 s of measurement:\n\n1. Design Cognitiometrics: the measurement of design 
 cognition\, generally using protocol analysis\;\n2. Design Physiometrics: 
 the measurement of the designer’s physiology while designing using sensi
 ng devices\; and\n3. Design Neurometrics: the measurement of the designer
 ’s neurophysiology while designing using non-intrusive brain activity ca
 pture.\n\nThe talk presents examples from each of the three categories and
  closes with implications for designers and for design theories.\n
