In this talk, I will discuss some of the processes which transport plastics, and in particular microplastics, through the ocean. In particular, I will focus on some new experiments in which we have explored the role of surface Langmuir circulation on the dispersal of plastics near the surface. The experiments will be complemented with some idealised theoretical models.
