Abstract
Despite the evidence of the impacts of climate change, society remains slow to address it. Can psychology help explain why? Can psychology help reveal messaging strategies that prompt climate action? In the first part of the talk, I will discuss some of the psychological factors that impede action on climate change. I will also overview evidence of the (in)effectiveness of current messaging strategies to influence climate change attitudes. In the next part of the talk, I will describe a series of studies testing an alternative approach to pro-environmental persuasion. Lastly, the talk will end with a brief discussion of my pedagogical research, specifically on the teaching of statistics.
Series This talk is part of the Social Psychology Seminar Series (SPSS) series.
