The Local Approach to Electronic Structure and Band Gaps
- π€ Speaker: Roger Haydock (TCM and University of Oregon )
- π Date & Time: Thursday 22 April 2010, 14:15 - 15:15
- π Venue: TCM Seminar Room, Cavendish Laboratory
Abstract
This talk reviews the local approach to electronic structure, including von Laue’s black body theorem, the recursion method, and continued fractions. I will also talk about new work involving a generalization of periodic boundary conditions. This improves convergence even when there are band gaps, and makes the unphysical energy sheet numerically accessible.
Series This talk is part of the Theory of Condensed Matter series.
