Abstract
Conversation 1. Social Mobility and Schooling Strategies of Migrant Families in Denmark and Sweden
Education has become an increasingly important factor in relation to migration and the social mobility strategies of migrants. This conversation will explore the complex relations between, on the one hand, migration and, on the other, education as social mobility-providing tools, examining the topic generally, and specifically in relation to Pakistani migrants, their transnational communities and educational strategies. The transnational perspective is crucial to understanding how migrant families conceive their host society and the βnationalβ schooling system, and how they manage within these.
