Abstract
Of current interest to the mining industry are the shock properties of aqueous solutions. A Mie-Grüneisen equation of state is considered an appropriate model for these liquids. Techniques for producing well-defined shocks in liquids during plate impact have been developed. Progress towards the parametrisation of this equation of state for a number of liquids is reported.
