Abstract
Digitally stored and processed audio is now ubiquitous yet, sadly, the absolute quality often leaves a lot to be desired, especially in the consumer environment. We shall examine the criteria for both “high quality” and “sufficiently good” in terms of music reproduction and storage in the home. This will include some practical demonstrations of what can be achieved with modern hi-fi equipment, both static and portable.
