The End of the Standard Model & the Last Particle?
- đ¤ Speaker: Professor John Ellis, FRS, Clerk Maxwell Professor of Theoretical Physics, Kings College London & CERN
- đ Date & Time: Wednesday 02 May 2012, 16:00 - 17:00
- đ Venue: Pippard Lecture Theatre, Cavendish Laboratory
Abstract
The Standard Model would be completed by the Higgs boson, whose discovery at the LHC may be imminent. However, in this talk I will argue that, even in its absence, we can be sure that there must be physics beyond the Standard Model. Leading options include composite models of electroweak symmetry breaking and supersymmetry, and this talk will review some of their possible experimental signatures.
Series This talk is part of the Cavendish Physical Society series.
