- 📅 Date & Time: Tuesday 29 May 2012, 18:30 - 19:30
- 📍 Venue: Lecture Room 4, Baker Building, Department of Engineering, Trumpington Street
Abstract
Mr Hamish Watson, CEO of Polysolar Ltd, award winning Cambridge technology company developing and manufacturing transparent photovoltaic glass, will be talking about THE FUTURE OF PHOTOVOLTAICS IN BUILDINGS .
In less than a year the market for photovoltaics has moved from boom to bust. With an economic downturn and governments slashing spending in Europe, subsidies for photovoltaics have been cut. Hamish Watson will be arguing that photovoltaics will increasingly become an integrated building material to power our cities locally, as the added cost of photovoltaics in buildings’ construction becomes marginal and so cost effective to enable photovoltaics to be subsidy free.
