Abstract
Minimax rates of convergence reveal the complexity in the worst case for a statistical model of interest. In this talk, we consider the problem of obtaining lower bounds for the minimax risk. Specifically, we will introduce Assouad’s lemma, and give several examples of its use in nonparametric estimation problems.
