Abstract
There are several paradoxes in quantum gravity, such as the information loss paradox, which seem to indicate a fundamental misunderstanding of the degrees of freedom of quantum gravity. In this colloquium some recent ideas, in which entanglement will play a crucial role, about the nature of these degrees of freedom will be explained.
