Abstract
Byte Night is Action for Children’s national sleep-out event. Each year thousands of individuals from the technology sector give up their beds for one night to help change young people’s lives.
It all began 17 years ago when 30 individuals from the IT industry slept out and raised ÂŖ35,000. Since then Byte Night has grown to over 1400 sleepers and we are now the biggest charity sleep-out in the UK, raising over ÂŖ1 million in 2013.
On Friday 3 October 2014, Byte Night will be in 8 locations across the UK with sleeper teams from companies such as RBS , Dell, Citrix, EY, Microsoft and KPMG .
This presentation will explain what Byte Night is and who it helps, and demonstrate how Microsoft Research in Cambridge become involved by providing an employer perspective from MathWorks.
